Communicating with your Virtual Assistant

What your Virtual Assistant needs to know from you is- how you want things done and what kind of results you are expecting as an employer. Leaving a Virtual Assistant with very detailed instructions will save you both time and spare you from headaches. It will also get the working relationship off to a good start.

Be clear on what you want. How do you want things done as an employer? Would you like to go through your daily To-Do list? Or do you expect her to finish at least half the tasks in the 8 hour work shift? How many of these emails should be sent out to your customers, and when? Be especially clear on what is prohibited in your book. Indicate whether your VA needs to call you if a situation develops.

Map out your Workflow. Give your Virtual Assistant a quick tour of the house, so to speak, don’t expect her to know her way around the first time. You need to initially do your part in supervising your VA on what to do. Show your Virtual Assistant the whereabouts of important files, emails, photos she is allowed to access, give her a set of tasks you want her to do for the day.
